What is your favorite Poem?

My favorite poem is Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” because it the truest description of experiencing life. I also, loved the “Outsiders” growing up and appreciate the positive idea of “Stay Gold.” So, like Johnny told Ponyboy to Stay Gold, as he does when he looks at the Sunset; I would like to remind you to Stay Gold, my fellow dreamer. Although nothing gold can stay, you can always find a way to hold onto your golden outlook.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

By Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

  3. That’s a lovely poem by Frost. My favorite poem is “maggie and milly and molly and may” by E. E. Cummings. One of my daughters is named Molly, so that’s one reason. Another is that the poem includes wonders on a beach… I love that, since I grew up by the ocean.

    1. “For whatever we lose (like a you or a me) it’s always ourselves we find in the sea.” Thank you so much for sharing and reminding me of this poem, I forgot how beautiful it is🏖

  5. Excellent choice, both poem and book!

One of my favorite poems is, “Because I could not stop for Death” by Emily Dickinson
I love her work and this one reminds me how fleeting life is. 🌹

    1. “We passed the Setting Sun –
Or rather – He passed Us –”

Emily truly captured the essence of our inevitable ends, which often happens against our plans. I agree, it is a reminder that life is fleeting. Thank you for sharing your favorite poem, I appreciate it✨

  6. Witchcraft was hung, in History,
    But History and I
Find all the Witchcraft that we need
    Around us every Day—
    Emily Dickinson

I’ve always associated this with the daily wonders of Nature and all things.
