Smile (2022) Movie Review

Smile (2022) turned out to be a surprisingly decent horror film. This film is a psychological horror that is similar to The Ring (2002) and It Follows (2014), where something awful was passed down that leads to a horrific death. There were a few jump scares and the style of this film was done well. The two things that didn’t work was that no character in this film believed in the Supernatural, but they were in a film where this was relevant. The other was the monster reveal at the end, which was a bit silly, gross, and reminded me of Beverly’s encounter in It: Chapter Two (2019). Overall, not a bad horror film to add to the Halloween playlist and is a solid 7 out of 10🎃

  2. weird question… but what’s the definition of psychological horror? It seems to be inconsistent

    1. Hi Zoe, Here is the definition google provides: “Psychological horror is a subgenre of horror and psychological fiction with a particular focus on mental, emotional, and psychological states to frighten, disturb, or unsettle its audience.”

I hope this clears up your question.
